Wiwo Freight: Moving East Africa's Cargo Forward

How a Mwanza-based logistics startup is building a smarter, more connected way to move goods across the region.

Who We Are

Wiwo Freight Company Limited is a Tanzanian freight logistics company incorporated in 2023 and headquartered in Kisesa, Magu, in the Mwanza Region. We started with a simple observation: moving cargo in East Africa still depends too much on phone calls, paper, and personal connections. Good truck owners wait for loads, shippers struggle to find reliable transport, and drivers lose days to empty return trips.

We are building Wiwo Freight to change that.

The Problem We See

East Africa's economy moves by road. Ports, mines, factories, farms, and construction sites all depend on trucks, yet the market behind those trucks is fragmented.

  • Shippers often cannot easily compare reliable carriers, prices, and availability.
  • Truck owners struggle to keep their fleet busy and to find return loads.
  • Drivers face uncertainty about the next job, payment timing, and paperwork.
  • Everyone loses time and money to empty return legs, delays, and manual reconciliation.

Our Vision

We are working toward a mobile-first freight marketplace that connects shippers, truck owners, and drivers across East Africa. Think of it as one place where a load meets the right truck at the right time, with clear pricing, clear records, and clear accountability.

Our goal is to make freight in the region:

  1. Easier to find: loads and trucks matched quickly.
  2. Easier to trust: transparent terms and documented agreements.
  3. Easier to manage: simple tracking of trips, invoices, and payments.
  4. More efficient: fewer empty kilometres and less idle time.

What We Do Today

While we build toward the marketplace, we are growing as a working logistics company. We handle road freight for bulk and commercial cargo under written transport agreements, with attention to the details that make or break a haulage business: accurate invoicing, reliable payment cycles, fair rates that reflect real costs such as return trips, and disciplined records.

Behind the scenes we invest in strong systems. Good logistics is as much about data as it is about engines: tracking each transporter, each trip, each client balance, and each currency so that nothing is lost between the loading point and the final payment.

How the Business Will Grow

We plan to build revenue in a way that serves every side of the market:

  • Commissions on loads successfully matched and delivered.
  • Subscriptions for truck owners and shippers who want premium tools and visibility.
  • Value-added services such as documentation support, fleet record management, and financing-readiness tools.
  • Corporate contracts with companies that need dependable, recurring transport capacity.

Building a Fleet and a Network

A freight company is only as strong as the trucks and people behind it. We are working on expanding capacity and strengthening the operational and administrative foundations that a growing fleet requires, from proper truck records to clear management of the partners who run vehicles on our network. We are also formalising our presence by registering with the relevant national investment and regulatory bodies.

Why Mwanza?

Mwanza sits on the shores of Lake Victoria, at the crossroads of trade between Tanzania and its neighbours to the north and west. Goods flow toward Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and the DRC. Being based here puts us close to the routes, the industries, and the people who keep regional trade moving.

The Impact We Want to Make

Better freight is not only a business goal. When trucks run fuller, transport costs fall. When drivers and owners are paid reliably, livelihoods become more stable. When shippers can trust their carriers, businesses grow and create jobs. We see Wiwo Freight contributing to decent work, stronger local enterprise, and more efficient trade across the region.

Work With Us

We are looking to connect with:

  • Shippers and businesses that need dependable road transport.
  • Truck owners and transporters who want steady loads and transparent terms.
  • Drivers who want a professional, well-organised network.
  • Partners and investors who believe in modernising African logistics.

If you move cargo, or would like to, we would be glad to hear from you.

Final Word

The roads of East Africa carry the region's ambitions. At Wiwo Freight, our job is to make sure the cargo, and the people behind it, arrive where they are going: on time, on record, and on fair terms.
